This article comes out on Eurovision New Year’s Eve. It’s only fitting then that, just as around actual NYE, music releases have slowed down considerably. But fret not! There are still plenty of beautiful tracks from artists you know and don’t to highlight this month. So let’s settle into this round-up of new music from Eurovision and beyond. This edition includes: soon-to-be-out albums, odes to Paris, and covers galore!

If you want to jump straight to a certain section, here’s a list of pages, each filled to the brim with new music:

The 2024 entries

Bambie Thug – “Hex So Heavy”

We’re kicking off this round-up with a very fresh release, as Bambie Thug treated us to some new music on the last Friday of the month. On the track, Bambie leans further into the industrial sound that they showcased at the contest while also adding some trap beats to the mix for good measure. Production was done by Jess Cake, who is also working with Kiesza.

Baby Lasagna – “Biggie Boom Boom”

Croatia’s Baby Lasagna returns to the round-up with a big boom thanks to new track “Biggie Boom Boom”. The entire song and production is all Baby Lasagna plus some songwriting by his keyboard and bass player Mihael Žipovski. The only other person involved in making this song was Matej Zec as the mastering engineer, who has previously worked with the likes of 2Cellos, Let 3, and Urban&4.

Vyshebaba & alyona alyona – “Моє покоління”

alyona alyona teams up with the poet Vyshebaba for joint new release “Моє покоління” (My generation). This track, which sees alyona alyona go for an uncharacteristically conversational, almost spoken word delivery, is based on Vyshebaba’s poem of the same name. It was written during the initial days of the 2022 Russian invasion in Ukraine. Originally an expression of gratitude and admiration to the people defending Ukraine, it now also serves as an ode to those who gave their lives.

İlkin Dövlətov – “Getmə”, İlkin Dövlətov & Leyla Rəhimova – “Ağla”

İlkin Dövlətov, who represented Azerbaijan in Eurovision this year, has now released a studio version of the song he performed during his run on the Azerbaijan edition of The Voice. The track, originally titled “Getmə, getmə gəl” (Don’t go, don’t go), has been a classic in the country ever since its first release, with Şövkət Ələkbərova singing the Səid Rüstəmov and Xalq Bayatıları penned song.

He also released a collab this month with Leyla Rəhimova. “Ağla” (Cry) is an emotional ballad with heavy traditional influences in the music.

Fahree, İlkin Dövlətov – “Azərbaycan”

But that’s not all this month from İlkin. Fahree and İlkin team up again in this ode to their country of “Azərbaycan” (Azerbaijan) and its Olympic athletes. Read all about this song down below:

Jerry Heil – “#AllEyesOnKids”, Jerry Heil & Volodymyr Dantes – “ГУБИ У ГУБАХ”

Fresh of releasing her EP, Jerry Heil makes a song together with Volodymyr Dantes. Find out more about their track “ГУБИ У ГУБАХ” (LIPS IN LIPS) below.

Jerry Heil followed that up with more new music this month, solo release “#AllEyesOnKids”. The song is dedicated to the Ukrainian children who have been kidnapped by Russia following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The music video features Kira, who herself suffered this fate but thanks to efforts by her grandfather made it back to Ukraine. The song is also a kick-off of a social media campaign to highlight this ongoing issue.

Dons – “Laiks” (LP)

Latvia’s Dons has steadily released new music since taking part in Eurovision, and this month he released his album “Laiks” (Time). You can read about it here:
