Today, the rehearsals for Eurovision 2026 continue in Vienna. Countries rehearsing on Day 3 include Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Romania, Luxembourg, Czechia, Armenia and Switzerland. The first to rehearse today is Bulgaria’s DARA.

What did we learn about DARA’s staging?

Surrounded by dancers moving in exaggerated, almost chaotic ways, the opening moments create a sense of confusion. The staging draws heavily from the Bulgarian Kukeri tradition, where performers use striking costumes and movement to symbolically drive away evil spirits.

Visually, the performance builds around contrast. DARA stands out in a mix of black and pink, a combination that feels both strong and stylised.

By the final moments, the staging fully commits to that transformation, turning ritual into spectacle.

Who is DARA

DARA is the stage name of Darina Yotova, a 27-year-old singer-songwriter born in the Bulgarian city of Varna. She first rose to fame in 2015, when she finished third on the Bulgarian version of The X Factor. Since then, she has gone on to become one Bulgaria’s biggest stars, having a string of hits, including becoming a coach on The Voice of Bulgaria.
