🇸🇮 Slovenia to participate at Eurovision Young Musicians 2024

We have a participant! Despite their non-participation in 2022, Slovenia’s broadcaster RTVSLO has revealed that it will be participating at Eurovision Young Musicians in 2024.

Returning after their non-participation in 2022

Slovenia’s participation in 2024 sees them as the first country confirmed for next year’s competition. Their participation was reported by Eurofestivales, with the broadcaster providing the following statement:

In 2023, we will start preparations for the Slovenian national selection for Eurovision Young Musicians 2024, which is organized by the EBU. The Slovenian representatives in this competition achieve exceptional success, unfortunately, due to the financial constraints of RTV Slovenia, we were unable to participate in this competition in 2022.

RTVSLO will have a selection, and will consist of a semi-finals and a final, with the selection being organised by the broadcatsers editorial board of its musical and ballet shows.

“We will record both selections with a television camera, (also) offer the semi-final selection as a live webcast and via social media, and will once again target a younger audience.” 

At the time of writing, further information about Eurovision Young Musicians 2024 is yet to be revealed by the EBU.

Eurovision Young Musicians 2022

In 2022, the 20th edition of Eurovision Young Musicians took place in Montpellier, France, after a two year delay, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 9 countries (Croatia, France, Poland, Germany, Austria, Norway, Belgium, Sweden and Czech Republic) took part in the competition, with Czech Republic’s Daniel Matejča scoring the country’s first win in the competition.
