Other highlights

There is way too much music released every month to cover in-depth, but here are some of the best and biggest new tracks from other Eurovision artists:

Blind Channel – “DIE ANOTHER DAY (feat. RØRY)”

Blind Channel show a slightly softer side to their music as they team up with RØRY for new track “DIE ANOTHER DAY”. It’s not a cover of the Bond track, and instead is a track about going through some very dark days, with the search for hope and answers to some of life’s questions all that remains as the reason to die another day.

Konstrakta i Zemlja gruva – “O, KLASJE MOJE”

“O, KLASJE MOJE” (O, EARS OF CORN) is Konstrakta’s latest track with her band Zemlja gruva. This track moves effortlessly between experimental pop, jazz, and more as they put Aleksa Šantić’s poem to music for a school program by broadcaster RTS.

LOBODA – “Метелица”

There’s been very little snow where I am writing this from, but worry not: LOBODA is here to bring “Метелица” (Blizzard). The ballad does really feel like you are stuck in place due to a blizzard, while the lyrics deal with looking for hope and trying to rekindle romance, only for it to fail.

O.TORVALD – “Я повернусь”, “вотсап”

O.TORVALD rock into the round-up with two songs this month. First they released “Я повернусь” (I’ll be back), which was originally supposed to be their final ever song as a band. But, as the band say on Instagram, the energy a live concerts made them reconsider. The track itself a beautiful, slightly melancholic track that really draws you in. And as I said, back they were indeed and they followed up that not-actually-goodbye-track with a cover of DOROFEEVA’s “вотсап”(Whatsapp), which they turned into an absolute banger.

VOLTAJ + Zdob si Zdub – “FRATZ”

Two very different Eurovision bands meet for this collab, as VOLTAJ and Zdob si Zdub team up to create “FRATZ”. The track is built around VOLTAJ’s pop-rock with Zdob si Zdub injecting the song with their own mix of ska, party-rock, rap, and more. Delightfully eclectic while also making perfect sense.

INÊS APENAS, Cláudia Pascoal – “Bloqueada (acústico)”

INÊS APENAS mde it to the 2023 Festival da Canção final with the enchanting “Fim do Mundo,” and for her new EP “acústico” (acoustic) she brought in Cláudia Pascoal to assist on one of the tracks. “Bloqueada” (Blocked) is, in this acoustic version, a gentle heartbreaking track about a relationship ending and how hard technology can both make it to move on, and how hard it can make reality hit you.

Soraya & Julian Poker – “One & One”

Soraya brings us back to the 90s as she once again teams up with Julian Poker for a new song. “One & One” is actually originally a Edyta Górniak track, although the first version that was actually released was by Robert Miles. Quite a pedigree, then, and Soraya and Julianmake it their own by eschewing both the dream house of Robert Miles and the acoustic guitar featured throughout Edyta Górniak’s.

Evgeny Genchev – “Хубава си, моя горо” ft. VICTORIA

Pianist Evgeny Genchev duets with VICTORIA on his new song “Хубава си, моя горо” (You are beautiful, my dear). A fittingly beautiful classical music inspired piano ballad, Evgeny’s and Victoria’s voices sound amazing together.

Anna Sahlene – “These Tears”

Anna Sahlene is treating us to an early 00s style pop ballad with “These Tears”. On this first single of upcoming album “Pop Box”, she tries to explain the person she loves that she can’t love this way anymore, and that it should be obvious due to these tears on her face.

Tina Karol feat. PROBASS ∆ HARDI – “Ой, сивая тая зозуленька”

Are PROBASS ∆ HARDI a band? A team? Perhaps they are best thought of as a musical collective, but one thing is clear: they make some absolute electronic bangers in a variety of genres. This month, they worked with Tina Karol to make “Ой, сивая тая зозуленька” (Oh, my grey cuckoo), which sees some disparate yet marvelous beats power a track while Tina Karol shows off her terrific vocal abilities.

Sara Jo – “Tako hodam”

Full of attitude and supported by an absolutely stunning beat, Sara Jo presents “Tako hodam” (That’s how I walk). It’s a confidence booster of a track that makes you want to strut down the street.
