New year, new music, same old round-up: 2024 is here and what a start to the year it has been. As you get ready for more national finals than you can shake a stick at, why not sit back, relax, and check out the best and biggest Eurovision-related music releases of January. In this edition of the round-up: singles galore, features aplenty, and some beats to die for.

The 2023 entries

Gustaph & MEROL – “Vernissage”

Gustaph and MEROL invite you to a “Vernissage” on their new track, well, “Vernissage”. Gustaph, MEROL, and Didier “the Producer” de Ruyter (MEROL, Dion Cooper, JOY!) have created a track together that is driven by a thumping beat as the singers switch between Dutch and French in this track that, as they also say in their own words, is a surprising but amazing collab.

Alessandra – “Narcissist”

Alessandra has released new single “Narcissist,” which she co-wrote with Clara Hagman and Carl-Philip Ström. The track is a pop track that starts as a moody ballad before building into a more angry-yet-uplifting banger towards the end, as Alessandra first calls out her partner for being a narcissist before noting that she also can start putting herself first.

Theodor Andrei – “Preludiu: ECHILIBRU.”

Theodor Andrei continues his journey through musical genres, as his latest track sees him rap over operatic dramatics while still maintaining some of his characteristic rock swagger. “Preludiu: ECHILIBRU.” (Prelude: BALANCE.”) sees Romania’s 2023 entry brag about the success he had despite the many things and people standing in his way, and also touches on his strained (to say the least) relationship with broadcaster TVR. On Instagram Theodor Andrei has shared that this, as the title implies, is the first track of an album that will come out at a TBA date.

Piqued Jacks – “Aria”

Italian rockers and Sammarinese representatives Piqued Jacks give us some Italian language in new release “Aria”. Musically it is a fairly chill retro-rock throwback vibe with a couple of modern elements here and there.

Alle Farben & Lewis Thompson – “Love Hurt Repeat” feat. Mae Muller

Following the release of her album last year, UK Eurovision representative Mae Muller is back with new music. She has a vocal feature on the new track by Alle Farben (who showed up last month with his Blanka remix) and Lewis Thompson. “Love Hurt Repeat” is a typical track for Alle Farben (and that is a compliment, to be clear), with Mae Muller’s vocals expertly itting on the track as she sings about being stuck in a pattern of “Love Hurt Repeat”.

Apollo On The Run – “Play Pretend (feat. Teya)”

Teya knows how to bring dark pop and how to kill a feature, and now she is combining those skills in a plot to take revenge on you. “Play Pretend” sees Teya work again with Apollo On The Run, who she previously collabed with on the track “Pay For It”.

Let 3 – “Baba Roga”

Croatia’s divisive, fan favourite punk band Let 3 are back with new music as they attempt to represent their country for the second year in a row. Let 3 are however claiming that this Eurovision music is not theirs and someone is impersonating them. A comment on the commodification of music? The negative impact of “AI” on creatives? Just a silly marketing stunt? Or perhaps even the truth? Who is to say.
