Other highlights

There is way too much music released every month to cover in-depth, but here are some of the best and biggest new tracks from other Eurovision artists:

zalagasper – “utiram si pot”

Continuing with the evolution they started in September are zalagasper on their song “utiram si pot” (I’m paving my way). It’s one of the duo’s chillest tracks, which is saying something. Lyrically, it deals with the importance of paving your own way and having the confidence that you can weather anything life throws at you.

LPS – “Počakaj me”

I don’t know what is happening in Slovenia, but between Joker Out’s “Everybody’s Waiting” and LPS’ “Počakaj me” (Wait for me) it sure sounds like they are expecting something. Jokes aside, this is a very cute and charming poprock track by my favourite Slovenian band about hanging out with friends and making the most of living in the moment.

Samira Said – “KAN” and “Fan El Taghafol”

Morocco’s one and only Eurovision representative makes it back into the round-up with two beautiful songs. “KAN” (WAS) wonders about how all the good things could have come to an end, as she reflects on the relationship that was over gentle acoustic instrumentation. “Fan El Taghafol” (The Art of Forgetting) has a slightly busier production, while still being rooted in acoustic instruments. The art of forgetting she sings about is about how the relationship between her and her partner is so strong that they always forget the little and big annoyances and show each other love no matter what.

VICTORIA – “Paradox”

VICTORIA is back with some more dark alt-pop goodness thanks to new single “Paradox”. The song deals with mental health, and what you want and need being impossible because it would be paradoxical. VICTORIA wrote the song together with Maya Nalani Carlsson (“The Worst””, César Sampson, Kristian Kostov), and the song’s composers Beatrice Jaksch (mostly her own music, but also Clara Klingenström) and Gabriel Pettersson (Marc Benjamin, Clara Klingenström, Jaksch).

Elhaida Dani – “Zemrës”

You don’t think I’d write this round-up without including a Balkan ballad, did you? Elhaida Dani’s latest song “Zemrës” (Heart) combines classic ballad elements with a thumping beat to really drive the song forward. Combine it all with Elhaida beautifully singing and you have an excellent song on your hands.

Amandine Bourgeois – “Un Jour”

Releasing a banger is just part of “Un Jour” (A Day) in Amandine Bouergeois’ life. Although in this case it was to promote her upcoming album “Meuf”, set to release March 8. But wow, this song. The emotional piano opening giving way to a groovy guitar, which then combine and get heightened by disco and rock elements? Now that is the good stuff.
