🇮🇪 Sophie Lennon records their Junior Eurovision 2022 entry

After winning the right to represent Ireland in the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan, Sophie has now commenced the work for their participation by revealing that they are recording the entry that Ireland will send for this year’s competition.

Sophie shared the progress of their recording, where they stated that they are excited for everyone to hear the track when recordings have finished. At the time of recording details of Sophie’s entry, as well as the release date for the entry is yet to be announced by TG4.

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022

The 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Yerevan, following Malena’s win in the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with “Qami Qami“, with the competition set to take place on the 11th of December. The competing countries in this year’s competition are as follows:

Ireland’s Junior Eurovision journey

Ireland first participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. Débuting alongside Australia, Ireland was represented by Aimee Banks singing ” Réalta na Mara”. At the close of voting, Ireland finished in 12th place – receiving 36 points. Ireland has since participated a further six times. Their best placement came in 2016, when Zena Donnelly finished in tenth place with her song “Bríce ar Bhríce”.

In 2021, Maiú Levi Lawlor represented Ireland in Paris with his song “Saor (Disappear)”. Ireland’s most recent participation, he finished 18th in a field of 19, earning 44 points. Of these, 5 came from professional juries, whilst the remaining 39 were from the online vote.
