The Winners

Eimear Quinn – “Song of Winter Dreaming” (LP)

Once again showing off why she won with “The Voice” is Eimear Quinn with her angelic sounding “Song of Winter Dreaming”. This is her first new music in a little while, and the album includes songs in English and Irish. From classics like “Auld Lang Syne” and Christmas hits like “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” or the original “Silent Snow”, there is music on here to accompany any and every kind of cold, wintery night.

Kalush Orchestra – “Коли”

It is, as it so often times, time for some Kalush in the round-up. This time it is once again in their Orchestra form as they sing about “Коли” (When). The track is about a love that lasts even when both people are old and gray, providing happiness and sanctuary to the lovers just as it did in their youth.

Jamala, MONATIK – “КЛИЧУ”

“КЛИЧУ” (CRY) is a collab between MONATIK and Jamala, who together serve up this R&By track. The song is about feelings of loneliness, and how those can manifest even when one is around people.

Ruslana – “КАМ’ЯНА ДІВА”

“КАМ’ЯНА ДІВА” is another poprocky entry to Ruslana‘s discography, and once again she also released it in English, under the title “Stone Queen”. As is so often the case, Ruslana worked together with Oleksandr Ksenofontov on writing the song.

Helena Paparizou – “Update”

It’s a reminder to all of us from Helena Paparizou: regularly “Update” all your software. Of course, that is not what the song is really about. “Update”, which combines traditional Greek sounds and modern electronic elements into an occasionally cacophonous sound sees Helena sing about how she is not defined by her age. She doesn’t grow up or old, she just updates.

Emmelie de Forest – “Million To One”

Hot off judging Montesong and as part of her currently relentlessly regular release schedule comes another song by Emmelie de Forest. This pretty song about a former relationship was written by Emmelie de Forest and Jakob Schack Glaesner, just as “Lovers Lullaby” was.

Nicole – “Carpe Diem” (LP)

And with that, the comeback is complete! Nicole had a long road back to the studio, but now she has recorded enough music to treat us to an entire album. “Carpe Diem” includes lyrical and/or melodical work from big German names such as HRK, Bernd Meinunger, and even the son of Ralph Siegel, Ralph Siegel Jr..

Victoria – “RATATA”

The Måneskin solo releases continue unabated. Okay, really it is just Victoria and Damiano doing that, and this month it was Victoria’s turn. “RATATA” is a party track that is ready for the club and could see quite some playtime, assuming she takes it to some warmer locales.
