Other Highlights
There is way too much music released every month to cover in-depth, but here are some of the best and biggest new tracks from other Eurovision artists:
Jessica Mauboy – “Give You Love (feat. Jason Derulo)”
Jessica Mauboy is gearing up toward the release of her album “Yours Forever” in February 2024. The first single of the album to be released is “Give You Love,” featuring none other than Jason Derulo. This isn’t the first time the two work together, as they both are coaches on The Voice Australia. Rising star of the Australian music scene WILSN helped pen the song. Musically, it is a gorgeously rich gospelly track, while lyrically it is a uplifting ballad.
Guy Sebastian – “I Chose Good”
Speaking of coaches on The Voice Australia: Guy Sebastian has a new song out! “I Chose Good” is an feel-good track that also has some (albeit much smaller) gospel influences. The track is about the person in your life who really makes your life better. From celebrating the good, helping you through the bad, and calling you out on your mistakes.
Aminata – “Paved mani (Tuvāk man pašai)”
Continuing the chain of related Eurovision artists: fellow 2015 contestant Aminata has released her new single “Paved mani (Tuvāk man pašai)” (Take me [Closer to myself])”. The song is fully in Latvian and has the perfect relaxed, upbeat sound for the end of summer. Talking about the track, Aminata says that the song was inspired by the interal changes we all always undergo, and the search for our true self. “Paved mani” is part of Aminata’s upcoming album “Savvaļas pusē” (On the wild side), itself a continuation of the 2022 EP of the same name. “Savvaļas pusē” is set to be released October 27th.
Monokate, Go_A – “Vorozhyla”
Yes, Go_A’s lead singer Kateryna Pavlenko (also known as Monokate) is indeed listed as a separate artist for new track “Vorozhyla”. Why, you might ask? Because she not only sings on this track for the new movie “Dovbush,” but also appears in the movie itself! “Dovbush” tells the story of the legendary Ukranian outlaw Oleksa Dovbush, and the song is suitably grand and dramatic. Another certified banger by Go_A.
Blue Café – “Niewidzialni”
Poland’s 2004 representatives Blue Café are still going strong, even if the line-up has changed since then. “Niewidzialni” is their first major release since last year’s album “Jazz Night,” and it is a great low-key bit of alt-indie with, as you might have guessed based on that previous release, some jazz influences in there for good measure.
Rock Paper Sisters – “One in a Million”
Eyþór Ingi represented Iceland in 2013, but he is much more than that. This month, his band Rock Paper SIsters released their debut album “One in a Million”. It’s a great rock record, incorporating elements from classic rock, early 00s alt-rock, modern indie, glam metal, and more. The 10-track album ranges from the building, bass guitar driven opening title track, to the post-rockesque ballad “With You,” grand, emotional closer “Bad Habit,” and more.
Daði Freyr – “I Made An Album” (LP)
We last heard about Daði Freyr’s new album back in May, when he released the second part of it, and now it is finally out! Find out everything there is to know about the album and Daði’s upcoming tour down below:
