After weeks of setting up and technical run-throughs, the stage for Eurovision 2024 is now complete and now revealed to the public.
Rehearsals to begin on stage next week
Thursday (April 25th) saw the official opening of the stage for the Contest to be held in Malmö. The stage itself is made up of a slew of technical parts, including movable LED cubes, LED floors and 2,168 light fixtures that will help realise the broadcasters’ visions for their performances.
It took four weeks of pre-programming in order to properly prepare the stage for the delegations arriving this weekend for rehearsals. According to host broadcaster SVT, designing where the artists will perform took six months.
In total, six people will be in charge of the stage management in the Malmö Arena. An extra 36 stage hands will also have the honour of helping with the movement of props both on and off – all within the 55 seconds of the postcards.
Speaking about the completion of the stage, designer Florian Wieder said in a statement:
I am so happy to be part of the Eurovision family again! Putting together an exceptional show is a team effort and I’m proud to be part of a dream team of professionals – just the right constellation of people to come up with something different and new. We all have the same vision of what this show should be and how to take Eurovision to the next level, and for me Sweden is always a guarantor of good music and entertainment.

The story of Eurovision 2024 so far…
The Nordic country will host the 68th edition of the competition. This is after Loreen’s historic win at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. One month after the 2023 contest took place, SVT revealed the first names of the Core Team that will work on the competition. SVT completed the team in September.
In July 2023, after a shortlist of four cities, it was announced that Malmö would host Eurovision 2024. The city will spend up to €2.5 million for the contest. Additionally, they will have 600 volunteers working for the show.
As for the upcoming contest, there will be 37 countries participating. Luxembourg will be returning, whilst Romania withdraws. ‘United By Music’ will be the permanent slogan for the contest. The upcoming contest will have ‘The Eurovision Lights’ as the theme art. The stage, designed by Florian Wieder and Fredrik Stormby was revealed in December.
