Plans for Junior Eurovision 2024 are getting well underway. Earlier this week, the Junior Eurovision steering group met in Madrid and discussed plans with Spanish broadcaster RTVE. This year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Madrid on Sunday 16th November.
Who is in the Junior Eurovision 2024 steering group?
The steering group are members of several broadcasters that direct how a contest will be hosted. This steering group is headed by France TV’s Alexandra Redde. The other members of the EBU steering group are:
- Ana Maria Bordas (RTVE)
- Mariangela Borneo (RAI)
- Carla Bugalho (RTP)
- Marta Piekarska (TVP)
- Alexandra Redde (France TV, Chairperson)
- David Tserunyan (AMPTV)
- Anja Zegwaard (AVROTROS)
- Martin Österdahl (EBU)
The steering group meet four times a year, they overlook all the major decisions in regard to Junior Eurovision. They assess things such as the format of the contest, as well as supporting the host broadcaster in their preparation for hosting the contest.
All about Junior Eurovision 2024
While France won the 2023 contest on home soil, French broadcaster France Télévisions had the right of first refusal to host the 2024 contest. Consequently, the EBU has given hosting honours to Spain, who placed second in Nice with Sandra Valero’s “Loviu”. This year’s competition will take place on Saturday, the 16th of November at Caja Mágica, which can hold up to 13,000 spectators.
