SMRTV announced today that Idols SM will represent San Marino at Junior Eurovision 2024, which will be held in Madrid, Spain. They were revealed during the “Sogna ragazzo sogna” charity event; SMRTV teased the reveal on 5th September.
Idols SM to represent San Marino
San Marino will return to Junior Eurovision after a nine-year absence. They had previously participated in 2013, 2014, and 2015, peaking at 10th place in their debut year. Their head of delegation will be Alessandro Capicchioni.
Idols SM is made up of Asia Ceccoli, Giulia Rinaldi, Giorgia Descisolo and Vera Stefania Olkhovskaya. As part of the event, the quartet performed two songs, “Poesia” (poem) and “Come Noi” (like us). A jury chose “come noi” as the group’s entry for Madrid.
Junior Eurovision 2024: What we know
As France won the 2023 contest on home soil, French broadcaster France Télévisions had the right of first refusal to host the 2024 contest; they chose not to host the contest. Consequently, the EBU has given hosting honours to Spain, who placed second in Nice with Sandra Valero’s “Loviu”. This year’s competition will take place on Saturday, the 16th of November at Caja Mágica, with the venue holding up to 6,000 spectators.

San Marino’s Junior Eurovision journey
San Marino made its debut to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2013 with Michele Perniola and his entry “O-o-O Sole intorno a me”, which placed 10th. They most recently participated in 2015 with Kamilla Ismailova and her song “Mirror”. Ismailova placed 14th and received 36 points overall. San Marino then took a nine-year hiatus before returning in 2024.
